Features of Golden Dwarf Cichlids:

  • Mature males display an overall iridescent blue sheen with some yellow fins. Females are more yellow in color, but they display a very attractive checkerboard pattern during spawning
  • The Golden Dwarf Cichlid is extremely hardy and is very easy to breed in the aquarium

The Best Aquarium Size for Cichlid:

The minimum tank size for Golden Dwarf Cichlids is 75L. Note that several females should be kept per male in order to reduce harassment, and only one male should be kept in the colony unless the tank is 300L large, and contains numerous visual barriers amongst the décor. The tank should have more horizontal than vertical space.

Tank Mate Compatibility:

This Golden Dwarf cichlid is generally compatible with other peaceful fish as long as it has plenty of room. Territoriality is typically at its peak during spawning. Don’t add dwarf shrimp, little snails, or other invertebrates since they can be food for your fish.

Feeding :

A quality cichlid pellet, cichlid flakes, and cichlid staple that should be the foundation of their diet along with supplements of meat and vegetables. Live insects that sink to the bottom are also good, as are live or frozen cichlid food,  brine shrimp and Daphnia, or common water fleas.

Golden Dwarf Cichlid Fish Tank Setup:

Aquarium Filtration

Filters are preferable. These fish can take a decent current, so almost any filtration system will work.

Heater

These tropical fish will need warmer water, so a heater is recommended in some states in Australia. A thermometer is also preferable to ensure the temperature is correct.

Lighting

Artificial lighting is optional, cichlids may like a system that dims or can be customized to match their native habitat.

Plants for Cichlid

Live plants are a great idea. You should choose only hardy plants because cichlids have a habit of digging.
