Located in the Rift Valley in eastern Africa, Lake Tanganyika is a very large lake: about 600 kilometres in length with a shoreline estimated at 2000 kilometres (it is also the second deepest lake in the world). The lake is home to 200+ Cichlid species (with numerous colour variations amongst some of these species). Tanganyikans are popular amongst Cichlid enthusiasts because of their varied behaviour and attractive shape and colours.
