This particular type of spider, known as the Australian Tarantula or Bird Eating Spider, is scientifically classified as Selenothous species. The spider is commonly available in small sizes, with a size comparable to a 5c piece, but it can grow to have a leg span of approximately 160 mm and fangs measuring around 10mm. Its habitat covers central Queensland's coastline, extending to the red center and through Western Australia to the northwestern tip of Victoria.
