Lamprologus ornatipinnis is a unique shell-dwelling cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika. Known for its striking fin patterns and compact size, this species displays fascinating behaviour, particularly in the use of empty snail shells for shelter and breeding. It is ideal for aquarists interested in observing natural territorial and social dynamics within a small footprint. Despite its relatively peaceful nature, careful tank planning is necessary to accommodate its specific environmental and social needs.
