The Rainbow Cichlid (Herotilapia multispinosa) is a small, colourful American Cichlid native to slow-moving rivers and lakes in Central America, particularly in Nicaragua and Honduras. Unlike many other cichlid species, the Rainbow Cichlid is known for its relatively peaceful disposition and adaptability, making it a suitable choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists. It derives its name from its iridescent colouration, which shifts subtly under different lighting conditions.
