Round Leaf Ludwigia is a marsh plant of indeterminate origin as it has become naturalised in most parts of the world for centuries, though is thought to come from North America. Its red stem and bright green and red leaves make for an attractive mid to background plant and requires very little maintenance.
Scientific Name
Ludwigia repens
Difficulty
Relatively undemanding and easy to keep.
Water Conditions
Placement
Background placement in the aquarium due to it's fast growth.
Growth Rate
Fast growth rate. Round Leaf Ludwigia will utilise nutrients in the water column in the form of liquid fertilisation, although supplemental nutrients are not necessary as this plant will uptake nitrates in the water column. It produces aerial roots readily, which can be left alone or trimmed.
Lighting
Round Leaf Ludwigia will tolerate low to moderate lighting. Higher lighting does encourage some red coloured new growth.
