The Silvertip Tetra Tetra is a relatively peaceful & hardy shoaling species and enjoys a planted aquarium in groups of 6 or more. Suited to beginner aquarists this species is impressive in a large group with shimmering silver tips on their fins, hence the name Silvertip Tetra. They make excellent fish for nano and small fish tanks.
The Silvertip tetra is native to streams and creeks in the São Francisco basin in Brazil.
The minimum tank size for a small group of Silvertip Tetra's is 50L. The Silvertip Tetra will occupy the top to middle water column in the aquarium. They are active swimmers so if keeper a group larger than 6, opt for a larger aquarium.

The Silvertip Tetra is a shoaling fish and should be kept in schools of 6 or more. This species does well with other similarly sized and peaceful community fish. They are slightly more "nippy" than other tetra's, but when kept in an appropriate sized school, the fin nipping settles. Avoid keeping with fish with flowing fins.
