Breeds in Spring as water temperatures start to increase. Scatters adhesive eggs amongst plants, the adults will prey on the eggs and fry if they find them. First foods for the fry include freshwater plankton (in ponds), or fry foods such as Vinegar Eels and Fry powder food (if raising in tanks).
Omnivorous. Eats all normal foods, including aquatic plants.
Bubble-eyes are one of the more bizarre looking fancy goldfish, with distinctive fluid filled 'bubbles' directly under their eyes. The Bubble eye was first developed in China in the early twentieth century. Slow moving, it is best kept with other slow-moving fancy goldfish (fast varieties such as Comets may out-compete it for food. If kept outdoors, provide protection from predators such as birds and cats.
