Breeds in Spring as water temperatures start to increase. Scatters adhesive eggs amongst plants, the adults will prey on the eggs and fry if they find them. First foods for the fry include freshwater plankton (in ponds), or fry foods such as Vinegar Eels and Fry powder food (if raising in tanks).
Omnivorous. Eats all normal foods, including aquatic plants.
Pom Pom Goldfish are similar to the fantail in overall appearance, except for the two fluffy ball-like appendages located on the top of the head above their eyes. These pom-pom like growths are known as nariel appendages. Like the head growth on an oranda, these fluffy pom-poms become larger as the fish grows. An interesting variety, not always as commonly available compared to other fancy goldfish. Suitable for indoor tanks and outdoor garden ponds (but provide protection from predators if kept outdoors.)
