Can not be successfully bred in captivity.

 

Feeding

Omnivorous, Commercial foods available specifically for crabs. Also enjoys occasional small pieces of fruit such as apple.

 

Additional Comments

Very popular 'alternative' pet. Easily kept if a few basics are attended to: warmth, a dish of fresh water (for drinking), a dish of salt water (for bathing) and use a cover to retain humidity. In nature Hermit Crabs hibernate in cooler months.
