Egg scatterer, lays large eggs on plants, rarely breeds in aquaria.
Carnivore, prefers bulky live or frozen foods. Relishes live prey.
Highly adapted fish predator, with an impressive set of teeth! Occurs in both fresh and brackish water. Occasionally bred in aquaria, becomes mature at around 35-40 cm (can grow to 80cm in nature, but usually stays much smaller in aquaria). The fry require live food such as adult brine shrimp - initially they will only prey on live food which is moving in mid water.
