Range

Disjointed distribution across northern Australia, also in southern New Guinea and Torres Straits Islands.

 

Reproduction

Eggs scattered among plants, usually spawns in morning. First food for fry: Powder foods, Vinegar eels.

 

Feeding

Omnivorous, accepts most standard foods. Avoid beefheart.

 

Additional Comments

Also knows as the Dwarf Rainbow, this species has a disjointed distribution across Australia and PNG, the population found just to the south of Cairns has attractive pink-red fins when displaying. Best kept with other smaller sized fishes in a planted tank.
