Range

Occurs in tidal zone of shorelines across Northern Australia.

 

Reproduction

Can not be successfully bred in captivity.

 

Feeding

Omnivorous, eats most fish foods. Commercial foods also available specifically for crabs.

 

Additional Comments

 Amphibious rather than fully aquatic,provide a partially filled aquarium, landscaped to provide plenty of habitat for the crabs above water. Expert escape artists, so use a tight-fitting cover. Fish tankmates must be large enough to not be eaten by the crabs, but not too big where the fish might start to consider the Crabs as a potential food item! Scarlet Fiddlers prefer slightly brackish water rather than freshwater.
