Carnivore, readily accepts most foods. Relishes live prey.

 

Additional Comments

Sooty Grunter are well known as an angling species; they are also very good for anyone wanting a very robust 'pet fish'. Becomes very tame in captivity and very responsive to their owner. Capable of intimidating much larger tank mates. Long lived (e.g. 10+ years for well cared specimens).
