Description

A very attractive small freshwater shrimp, Blue Cherry Shrimp are an ideal invertebrate for nano tanks and thrive in planted tanks. They are very easily bred and in the right conditions will multiply quickly. Blue Cherry Shrimp are great scavengers that will help keep a tank clean of uneaten food.

Please note: avoid the use of copper based treatments if invertebrates are present in the tank.

The Best Aquarium Size for Cherry Shrimp:

The recommended for a small group of Cherry Shrimp should be least 30 Litres fish tank. You’ll likely need much larger tanks if you’re planning on introducing some tank mates or aquarium plants.

Cherry Shrimp are not picky eater. They are happy to eat most foods. Feed cherry shrimp a diet of  like Dymax Shrimp Pellets, Hikari Shrimp Cuisine, Sera Shrimps Natural Sinking GranuletsHikari Algae Wafers. Cherry shrimp enjoy eating algae off the walls and surfaces in the tank. You could encourage algae growth by adding aquantic plants to the tank.

Aquarium Lights and Lighting

Shrimps don't require any specific lights. While, lighting system is important to keep your planted aquarium function well. It ensures the healthy of aquatic plans and also encourages algae growth in your tank.

Shrimp Tank Filter

Shrimp are very sensitive to ammonia and nitrite, so a good filtration system is very necessary to house the shrimp well. Popular choice for shrimp tanks could be: sponge filter, Hang on Back Filter, or Matten Filter.

Heater for your tank

It is essential to maintain a warm water temperature in the tank. You can consider adding a heater to the tank. A thermometer is recommended to control the water temperature.

Plants for Cherry Shrimp

Cherry Shrimp do best in tanks with plenty of live aqurium plants. Plants can provide cover for molting shrimp and shrimplets.  Aquatic plants grow lots of biofilm (a nutritious food source for shrimps) that shrimp love to graze.

Decorations for Cherry Shrimp

Artificial plants can work well in your shrimp tank. Additionally, you can also choose to use Aquarium Ornaments such as: Kazoo handmade fish decorations , caves, rocks, and maybe even driftwood will create a fun playground for them to swim around.
