Grows larger than most commonly available Gourami's. Also known as the Moonbeam Gourami. Prefers a well planted tank. Adult males develop a pastel hue to their body. They can sometimes be territorial to other male gourami's, so in a smaller tank it's recommended to keep a single male.
The Moonlight gourami is native to Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia.

The most ideal tank mates for the Moonlight Gourami's would be fish that dwell near the bottom of the tank, or are peaceful species of similar size that are not prone to fin nipping. They are generally a peaceful and timid species and can be kept in pairs or a community.
Great tank mates include:
A filtration system is necessary for removal of waste and debris. Moonlight Gourami's do not like fast or strong water flow. In the wild, they are found in slow-moving water with dense vegetation. Opt for an aquarium filter suitable for your fish tank size that cleans effectively, but offers the ability to reduce flow. If water current is to strong, use sturdy aquarium plants and ornaments to create areas of reduced water current for refuge.
Ensure the lighting is subdued. Light is necessary for the photosynthesis required for the health and growth of all aquarium plants. LED aquarium lighting with dimmable functions enable to you set the appropriate lighting.

Ensure there is structure for your Gourami's to hide and rest around that breaks up water flow. Rock and driftwood mimic natural environments, while resin ornaments add character and design to an aquarium. We recommend mimicking the Moonlight Gourami's natural habitat as best you can to reduce stress.

Use sand or a dark, fine gravel for the tank’s substrate. A darker substrate enhances their colour beautifully. If keeping a planted aquarium, consider the use of nutrient rich substrates such as aqua-soils.
A variety of Substrates are available at Coburg Aquarium.
