The Dwarf snowball pleco is a small pleco species, only reaching approximately 6cm, making it ideal for smaller aquariums. Snowball pleco is a native of Venezuela, specifically found in the Amazon blackwater river known as Rio Negar.

Tank Mate Compatibility:
Snowball pleco’s peaceful nature makes it easy to choose tank mates for them. Any small to medium peaceful aquatic species can live with them in their tank. Just avoid large, aggressive or highly active bottom dwellers that will out compete or see them as food.

Diet:
The L471 is omnivorous. They love to feed on wood in the aquarium and has a liking for meaty high protein snacks. Feed them algae wafers, flakes and sinking pellets. They also accept treats like live or frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and insect larvae. Vegetables such as zucchini can be fed once a week.

Water quality is vital. This fish produces a moderate amount of waste, so an excellent filter is essential. Sponge filters make a great option for small to medium tanks, while cannister filters are a great option for medium to large aquariums. There are no strict cultivars that these fish prefer. So, get creative and add a variety of plants that fit this environment. Floating plants or large-leaved plants like java fern are all good choices for your pleco tank. Pleco's enjoy shaded areas and places to hide, this makes them feel safe.
