Mouthbrooder, males construct a sand crater and try to attract passing females.

 

Feeding

Carnivorous. Eats all normal foods.

 

Additional Comments

Inhabits sandy areas of the lake. Sifts the substrate for food items such as small invertebrates, so prefers fine sand rather than coarse gravel.
