Feeding :

Krobia Oyapok are omnivores. In the aquarium, live and frozen foods such as Artemia, Daphnia and chironomid larvae (bloodworm) should be offered regularly although most specimens will also learn to accept dried alternatives with pelleted products generally preferred to flake. Naturally they feed on invertebrates, therefore do not keep with small invertebrates such as shrimp.

At Coburg Aquarium, we stock a wide variety of high quality fish foods.

Plants for Krobia Oyapok

Live Aquarium plants can provide spaces for female to lay their eggs, and fish to hide and feel safe. Krobia Oyapok naturally occur in vegetated streams and suit a planted biotope style aquarium. Plants that require lower lighting can be used, such as anubias, crypts and java moss.

Lighting for Krobia Oyapok

Lighting can be as bright as you need for the plants to thrive, but make sure you have a lot of cover for the Krobia Oyapok. These fish do not like direct sunlight or bright light, so very bright lights need to be hitting the leaves of the plants without shining directly onto the fish. They prefer a biotope style aquarium which is typically lower lighting.

Substrate for Krobia Oyapok

Replicate a natural river bed or stream with fine gravel or sand. If planting live plants, aquarium soil can be placed below a layer of gravel or sand for optimal nutrients for healthy live aquarium plants.

A variety of Substrates are available at Coburg Aquarium.
