Angel Blue Belem is a premium freshwater angelfish admired for its elegant body shape, graceful finnage, and stunning iridescent blue colouration. Originating from carefully developed bloodlines, this striking variety displays shimmering blue hues across its body with subtle metallic highlights that become even more vibrant under quality aquarium lighting. Peaceful yet majestic, the Blue Belem Angelfish is an exceptional centrepiece for well-maintained community aquariums and planted aquascapes.
• Brilliant iridescent blue colouration with metallic highlights
• Classic tall-bodied angelfish shape
• Long, graceful dorsal, anal, and ventral fins
• Elegant centrepiece fish for community aquariums
• Grows to approximately 15 cm in height
A minimum aquarium size of 150 litres is recommended for a small group or compatible pair. Their tall body shape requires a high aquarium with plenty of vertical swimming space. Larger aquariums provide greater stability and reduce territorial behaviour as the fish mature.
• Corydoras Catfish
• Bristlenose Catfish
• Rummy Nose Tetra
• Lemon Tetra
• Pearl Gourami
Avoid keeping with fin-nipping species such as Tiger Barbs or very small fish that may be viewed as prey once the angelfish reach adult size.
The Blue Belem Angelfish is an omnivore that thrives on a varied, high-quality diet. Feed premium cichlid pellets or tropical flakes as the staple, supplemented with frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, and blackworms. Occasional vegetable-based foods can also be offered. Feed 2–3 small meals daily, providing only what they can consume within a few minutes.
Efficient filtration is essential for maintaining excellent water quality. A quality canister filter or high-capacity internal filter with gentle to moderate water flow is recommended.
Tall plants such as Vallisneria, Amazon Sword, and Java Fern provide shelter and create a natural environment while leaving open swimming areas.
Moderate lighting enhances the fish's iridescent blue colouration while promoting healthy plant growth.
Maintain a stable water temperature between 25–28°C using a reliable aquarium heater.
Fine gravel or natural sand provides an attractive base for planted aquariums and complements the angelfish's elegant appearance.
Incorporate driftwood, rock formations, and planted sections to provide security and define territories while maintaining ample open water for swimming. A tall aquarium layout best showcases the Blue Belem Angelfish's graceful form.
