Angelfish Blue Sapphire Veiltail

Angelfish Blue Sapphire Veiltail are a stunning freshwater variety known for their blue-grey colouring, shimmering scales and long, flowing fins. Their elegant shape makes them a standout feature in a well-planted aquarium. While peaceful when kept with suitable tank mates, they can become territorial as they mature and are best suited to a spacious aquarium with plenty of swimming room.

Features of Angelfish Blue Sapphire Veiltail

  • Grow to around 15 cm in body length, with their long fins making them considerably taller.
  • Develop attractive blue, silver and grey colouring.
  • Have long, flowing veiltail fins.
  • Generally peaceful but may become territorial as they mature.
  • Can live for several years with good care.
  • Suitable for community aquariums with carefully chosen tank mates.

The best aquarium size for Angelfish Blue Sapphire Veiltail

A minimum aquarium size of 150 litres is recommended for adult Angelfish Blue Sapphire Veiltail. Because their tall bodies and flowing fins require plenty of vertical space, an aquarium of at least 45 cm in height is ideal. Larger aquariums are recommended for groups or community setups.

Tank Mate Compatibility for Angelfish Blue Sapphire Veiltail

Choose peaceful fish that are large enough not to be mistaken for food and that will not nip their long fins.

  • Rummy Nose Tetra
  • Congo Tetra
  • Bristlenose Catfish
  • Corydoras
  • Pearl Gourami

Avoid very small fish, aggressive species and fin-nipping fish.

Diet for Angelfish Blue Sapphire Veiltail

Feed a quality tropical pellet or flake as the main food. Supplement their diet with frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp and daphnia. Feed small portions once or twice daily and avoid overfeeding.

Aquarium Setup Angelfish Blue Sapphire Veiltail

Aquarium Filtration

Use a reliable filter that keeps the water clean without creating an excessively strong current. Regular water changes are important for maintaining good water quality.

Aquarium Plants

Live plants are highly recommended. Tall plants provide cover and suit the natural shape of Angelfish while leaving open areas for swimming.

Aquarium Lighting

Moderate lighting works well. A consistent day and night cycle will help maintain healthy behaviour and showcase their blue colouring.

Aquarium Heating

Maintain a stable temperature of 24–28°C. Avoid sudden temperature changes, particularly during water changes.

Aquarium Substrate

Fine gravel or sand are suitable options. A darker substrate can help highlight the blue and silver colours of the fish.

Aquarium Decorations

Use driftwood, smooth rocks and tall plants to create a natural environment. Leave plenty of open swimming space and avoid sharp decorations that could damage their long fins.

Water Parameters

  • pH: 6.0–7.5
  • Water hardness: 50–200 ppm
  • Care level: Beginner to Intermediate
