The Dark Knight Ram is a selectively bred, jet-black variant of Mikrogeophagus ramirezi, a small, strikingly coloured American cichlid native to the Orinoco River basin in South America. Known for their peaceful temperament, the Dark Knight Ram has gained popularity for its unique velvet-black coloration and suitability for community aquaria. While relatively delicate compared to hardier cichlid species, it thrives in stable, soft, and warm freshwater environments with gentle tank mates.
