The Male Super Delta Fighter Fish is a beautiful ornamental betta admired for its flowing fins, elegant swimming movements and vibrant colouration. Recognised for its broad, fan-shaped caudal fin that spreads towards a 180-degree angle when fully flared, the Super Delta combines the visual appeal of a show-quality betta with a graceful, streamlined appearance. Available in a variety of striking colours and patterns, this freshwater fish makes an impressive centrepiece for a carefully maintained aquarium.
A minimum aquarium capacity of 20 litres is recommended for a single Male Super Delta Fighter, with 30 litres or more providing additional swimming space and greater water stability. Maintain a temperature of 25–28°C and a pH of approximately 6.5–7.5. A secure lid is essential, as bettas are capable of jumping. Ensure the aquarium is fully cycled before introducing the fish.
Male bettas are territorial and are best housed individually. In a spacious, established aquarium, carefully selected peaceful species may be suitable companions:
Avoid aggressive, fin-nipping or brightly coloured fish that may provoke territorial behaviour. Monitor all interactions and separate tank mates if aggression occurs. Never house two male bettas together.
The Male Super Delta Fighter thrives on a protein-rich, carnivorous diet. Provide high-quality betta pellets as the staple food, supplemented with frozen or live brine shrimp, daphnia and appropriately sourced mosquito larvae. Feed small portions once or twice daily, adjusting quantities to prevent overfeeding and maintain excellent water quality.
Use a gentle sponge filter or an adjustable filter with low water flow. Strong currents can strain the fish's flowing fins and interfere with comfortable swimming.
Live plants such as Anubias, Java fern and Java moss offer shelter and enrichment. Choose soft foliage and avoid plants or ornaments with sharp edges.
Moderate LED lighting highlights the fish's colouration and flowing fins. Maintain a consistent day–night cycle and provide shaded resting areas.
Maintain a stable temperature of 25–28°C using a reliable adjustable heater and thermometer.
Fine sand or smooth, rounded gravel provides a suitable foundation for planted aquariums and is easy to maintain.
Include smooth driftwood, betta-safe caves and broad-leaved resting spots. Leave open swimming areas and avoid rough decorations that could tear the Super Delta's delicate fins.
