The Dwarf Rasbora is also known as the Pygmy Rasbora or Spotted Rasbora, and is one of the smallest freshwater fish of the Rasbora fish family. The Dwarf Rasbora is a peaceful shoaling species and enjoys a planted aquarium in groups of 8 or more. More suited to the intermediate aquarist due to their sensitivity during water changes.
Native to Southeast Asia, in Malaysia, Thailand, Sumatra, Singapore, and Indonesia, the Dwarf Rasbora is naturally found in densely vegetated black water streams. They are a timid species and will gain confidence with lots of hiding spaces and in groups.
The minimum tank size for a small group of dwarf Rasboras is 25L. The Dwarf Rasbora will occupy the top to middle water column in the aquarium.
Due to their small size, smaller aquariums will accommodate this fish, however we always recommend going with larger aquariums if your budget allows.
