The Long Nosed Butterflyfish is suited for the intermediate aquarist. It is a peaceful species and is also referred to as the Forceps Fish. It has a yellow body, a long snout and its head colours are split horizontally with black on the top and white on the bottom half. Its dorsal spines are long and jagged. It is a great first butterfly fish purchase.
This species is native to many areas within the Indo-Pacific region.

They are a good match with many other peaceful fish. It is recommended that they are not housed with any other butterfly fish unless already in an established pair. They may nip at corals and sessile invertebrates.
Long Nosed Butterflyfish are carnivores so their diet should consist of a variety of foods including Mysis shrimp, crustacean meat and frozen preparations.
Long Nosed Butterflyfish require a minimum tank size of 150L as they are active swimmers so require large open areas to swim.
