Aqua Excel AE-1001 Protein Skimmer (800–1200 Litres)

Keep your marine aquarium water clean and clear with the Aqua Excel AE-1001 Protein Skimmer. It's designed for large aquariums of 800–1200 litres, and removes dissolved organic waste from the water before it breaks down, helping to maintain better water quality for fish, corals and invertebrates.

The AE-1001 is a flexible setup option. It can be mounted inside the aquarium or placed in a sump filter, so it suits a range of system layouts. Its clear body makes it easy to monitor foam production and collection, and the removable collection cup makes cleaning simple.

How to Use

  1. Switch off and unplug the skimmer before installing.
  2. Place the skimmer inside the aquarium or in your sump, sitting level and stable.
  3. Check that the water depth suits the skimmer, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  4. Plug into a power point away from the tank, using a drip loop in the cord.
  5. Allow a few days for the skimmer to "break in" and produce steady foam, then fine-tune the water level using the adjustment valve.
  6. Empty and rinse the collection cup regularly.

Please note: Always unplug the skimmer before installing, adjusting or cleaning. New skimmers often take several days to start producing consistent foam, so this is normal. Avoid adding feeds, medications or water treatments directly in front of the skimmer intake, as they can cause overflowing.
