The Vagabond Butterflyfish is suited for the beginner to intermediate aquarist. It is a calm, quiet and cheeky species and is known for its chevron-like markings. It has a mixture of colours with a black eye band. The dorsal, caudal and anal fins are yellow with two vertical black stripes.
This species is native to many areas within the Indo-Pacific region.

They are a good match with many other peaceful fish. The Vagabond Butterflyfish can be housed with another Vagabond if in a pair or other species of butterflyfish. They are not reef safe as they nip at corals and small invertebrates.
Vagabond Butterflyfish are omnivores so their diet should consist of a variety of live foods and vegetable food. This could include live brine shrimp, food flakes and prepared formulas including plenty of greens such as spirulina or nori seaweed.
Vagabond Butterflyfish require a minimum tank size of approximately 350L as they are active swimmers and require large open areas to swim. They also like places to hide and feed in crevices so rocks are a great addition along with plenty of algae growth.
