A particularly beautiful utaka species is the Firecrest Hap, scientifically known as Copadichromis virginalis. Males possess black bodies adorned with a vivid red dorsal fin and a white blaze spread across the forehead. These fish are tranquil and have a preference for swimming in the wide ocean. According to reports, they are only observed annually in close proximity to Mozambique, where they congregate at a depth of 90 feet to reproduce. Moreover, its extinction in the wild is attributed to overfishing, underscoring the critical need of reproducing these very scarce fish.
