Designed as a replacement pre-filter foam for EHEIM Professionel Wet/Dry 2227 and 2229 external canister filters, this foam fits over the intake strainer to capture larger debris before it enters the filter.
The strainer foam helps reduce the amount of waste entering the filter, protecting the impeller and filter media while improving water flow and extending maintenance intervals. During the initial running-in period of a new filter, it also provides additional mechanical filtration until the biological media becomes fully established.

Installation Tips
- Turn off and unplug the filter before servicing.
- Remove the existing strainer foam from the intake strainer.
- Rinse the new foam with aquarium water before installation.
- Slide the foam securely over the intake strainer.
- Restart the filter and confirm unrestricted water flow.
- Clean the foam regularly using aquarium water to preserve beneficial bacteria and replace it when worn or damaged.
Note: For new EHEIM Wet/Dry filters, the strainer foam is primarily intended for the initial running-in period (approximately 6–8 weeks). Once the biological filter media is fully established, EHEIM recommends removing the foam pre-filter during normal operation.
