The Red Ruby Tetra is a peaceful & hardy shoaling species and enjoys a planted aquarium in groups of 6 or more. Suited to beginner aquarists this energetic fish adds a pop of colour to your aquarium. They make excellent fish for nano and small fish tanks.
Not as wide spread as other tetra's, Red Ruby Tetra's are native to the upper part of Rio Meta in Colombia.
The minimum tank size for a small group of Red Ruby Tetra's is 25L. The Red Ruby Tetra will occupy the top to middle water column in the aquarium. They are active swimmers so if keeper a group larger than 6, opt for a larger aquarium.

Red Ruby Tetra's enjoy black water aquariums and soft acidic water. The colour of fish are enhanced when conditions are ideal and fish are less stressed. Add driftwood and natural decorations that release tannins to mimic their natural environment.
