The Mimic Tang are a unique species with the ability to mimic other species as juvenile. Suited for the intermediate aquarist, they are a semi-aggressive species sure to be the centerpiece of your aquarium. Suited to reef aquariums and fish only aquariums.
Native to the Indo-Pacific.

They can be aggressive towards other tangs, best to be kept as the only tang in the aquarium.
Mimic Tang's are omnivores, but primarily herbivores therefore their diet should consist of a variety of plant based foods such as spirulina and algae. They will accept high protein foods such as mysis shrimp and artemia brine shrimp. Supply plenty of live rock for algae to grow on for them to graze.
Mimic Tang's are an active species that require a minimum tank size of approximately 280L with plenty of open swimming space.

This species is naturally found around rocky & rubbly sea beds. A larger grade aragonite or coral sand with rubble scattered will provide ample opportunity to forage algae growing on the surface.
