Highland Rainbowfish - C. campsi is generally easy to keep and suited for the beginner to intermediate aquarist.
Chilatherina campsi are found in the central highlands of Papua New Guinea living in streams and shallow bodies of water up to 5000 feet above sea level. They are an active species that prefer to be kept in shoals of 6 or more in planted yet spacious aquariums. They have a body colour of pale bluish-white with a silvery sheen; pale yellow to whitish longitudinal stripes.
Highland Rainbowfish are peaceful community fish that prefer to swim in groups of 6 or more. They can also be kept with other peaceful community fish.

Highland Rainbowfish are omnivores. They feed on dry, live and frozen foods such as spirulina, flake, small pellets, brine shrimp, and any type of worms. Regular supplementation with live foods has shown to enhance colour.
Highland Rainbowfish are best suited to a longer aquarium as they are active and energetic swimmers. An aquarium 3ft or larger is recommended. They are also well known jumpers, thus their aquarium should be well covered.

Highland Rainbowfish are found in gentler flowing streams shaded by trees where they find shelter among aquatic plants, roots, and fallen branches. They are happiest in a dimly lit environment. We recommend LED aquarium lighting with adjustable brightness to ensure the light level can be altered for happy fish.
