Acan Coral (Acanthastrea lordhowensis – Mixed Green)
Acan Corals are a popular LPS coral species for Australian reef aquariums, known for their vibrant colours and robust growth. The Mixed Green variety of Acanthastrea lordhowensis displays stunning patterns of green with hints of red, orange, or brown, making each polyp unique and visually striking. These corals are moderately hardy and ideal for beginner to intermediate aquarists who want to add bold colour and texture to their reef tank. With proper care, Acan Corals grow into dense colonies that provide long-lasting beauty and visual interest.

Acan Corals are peaceful but can extend sweeper tentacles at night, so give them space away from neighbouring corals. They are compatible with most reef-safe fish and invertebrates but should not be kept with coral-nipping species like certain butterflyfish or angelfish.
These corals thrive under low to moderate LED or T5 lighting. Proper lighting encourages polyp expansion, vibrant colour, and healthy growth. Gradually acclimate new specimens to your lighting system to prevent stress or bleaching.
Acan Corals prefer low to moderate water flow that gently moves the polyps. Strong currents can damage delicate tissue, while too little flow may allow debris to settle on the coral. Proper circulation ensures nutrient delivery and waste removal.
Acan Corals are suitable for small to medium marine aquariums. Place them on stable rockwork or substrate with sufficient space for colony growth. Maintaining stable water parameters and consistent care will ensure your Acan Coral thrives and remains a vibrant addition to your reef.
All our corals are sustainably collected or tank grown to ensure our reefs remain protected.
