Branching Coral (Acropora sp.)

Branching Corals are highly sought-after SPS coral species for Australian reef aquariums, prized for their intricate, tree-like structures and vibrant colouration. Acropora species display a wide range of colours, including greens, blues, purples, and pinks, making them a visually stunning addition to any reef tank. These corals are ideal for experienced aquarists, as they require stable water parameters and attentive care, but they reward dedication with rapid growth, complex branching patterns, and long-lasting beauty. Acropora corals are excellent for creating dynamic reef landscapes and vertical structures within your aquarium.

Fish Tank Compatibility

Branching Acropora corals are generally peaceful toward fish and invertebrates but can be sensitive to accidental contact. Keep them away from aggressive corals that may overgrow or damage their branches. Compatible with most reef-safe fish, but avoid coral-nipping species such as some angelfish and butterflyfish.

Lighting Needs

Acropora corals require high-intensity LED, T5, or metal halide lighting to maintain vibrant colours and promote strong skeletal growth. Gradually acclimate new specimens to your lighting to prevent bleaching or stress.

Water Flow Requirements

These corals thrive under strong, turbulent water flow that ensures proper nutrient delivery and waste removal. Adequate circulation also helps prevent detritus accumulation within the branching structure.

Tank Size & Placement

Branching Acropora corals are best suited for medium to large aquariums with plenty of open space to allow branches to grow and expand. Place on stable rockwork, ensuring branches do not touch other corals, and maintain consistent water chemistry to support healthy growth and coloration.

All our corals are sustainably collected or tank grown to ensure our reefs remain protected.
