Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor)
Bubble Tip Anemones are one of the most popular and visually stunning anemone species for Australian reef aquariums. Recognised for their bulbous, bubble-like tentacle tips and vibrant colour variations ranging from green, red, and pink to brown, they bring movement and life to any marine tank. Bubble Tip Anemones are moderately hardy, making them suitable for aquarists with some reef experience. With proper care, they can grow into large, captivating specimens that form the centrepiece of your aquarium, providing both beauty and a natural home for host fish such as clownfish.

Bubble Tip Anemones are compatible with most reef-safe fish, especially clownfish, which often form symbiotic relationships with them. Avoid housing them with coral-eating or aggressive fish, as these species can damage the anemone’s delicate tentacles.
These anemones require moderate to high lighting, ideally from LED, T5, or metal halide systems, to thrive and maintain their vibrant colour. Gradually acclimate new specimens to your aquarium lighting to avoid stress or bleaching.
Bubble Tip Anemones prefer moderate water flow that gently moves their tentacles without causing them to retract constantly. Proper flow ensures optimal gas exchange, nutrient delivery, and debris removal, supporting healthy growth.
Bubble Tip Anemones are best suited for medium to large marine aquariums. Place them on stable rockwork or substrate where they have room to attach and expand. They may move around the tank, so ensure they have a safe environment free from sharp edges or strong currents.
All our corals and anemones are sustainably collected or tank grown to ensure our reefs remain protected.
