Also known as the 'Dwarf Rainbowfish", it is a smaller Rainbowfish. The Neon Rainbowfish is generally easy to keep and suited for the beginner to intermediate aquarist. It is an active community fish that enjoys a spacious planted aquarium. They occupy the mid to upper level water column and are best kept in shoals of 6 or more and a ratio of one male to two females. They are a brilliant greenish - blue with crimson red on fins and tails. Rainbow fish prefer good water quality and stable conditions.
The Neon Rainbowfish is native to West Papua New Guinea and is found in the Mamberano River Basin.
Neon Rainbowfish are relatively peaceful community fish that prefer to swim in groups of 6 or more. It is best to keep multiple females per male, otherwise males can display aggression. They can also be kept with other peaceful community fish.

Neon Rainbowfish are best suited to a longer aquarium as they are active and energetic swimmers. An aquarium 2ft or larger is recommended. They are also well known jumpers, thus their aquarium should be well covered.
