Deshy Coral (Acanthophyllia deshayesiana – Mixed Colours)

Deshy Corals are one of the most spectacular LPS coral species available for Australian reef aquariums, admired for their large, fleshy polyps and striking, vibrant colour patterns. Often referred to as “meat corals,” Deshy Corals in mixed colours display unique combinations of red, green, brown, purple, and orange, making each specimen a one-of-a-kind centerpiece. These corals are moderately hardy and ideal for intermediate reef keepers who want to add a bold, eye-catching coral that grows slowly but develops impressive size and presence in the tank. With proper care, Deshy Corals can thrive for years, providing a visually stunning addition to any marine aquarium.

Fish Tank Compatibility

Deshy Corals are peaceful and generally safe with most reef-safe fish and invertebrates. They do not aggressively sting nearby corals, but avoid placing them near highly aggressive LPS species to prevent contact. Keep away from coral-nipping species such as some angelfish or butterflyfish.

Lighting Needs

These corals thrive under low to moderate LED or T5 reef lighting. Proper lighting encourages full polyp extension and vibrant colouration. Gradually acclimate new specimens to the aquarium lighting to prevent stress or bleaching.

Water Flow Requirements

Provide low to moderate water flow that gently moves the coral without causing tissue damage. Adequate circulation ensures nutrient delivery, waste removal, and healthy polyp expansion.

Tank Size & Placement

Deshy Corals are suitable for medium to large marine aquariums. Place them on stable substrate or rockwork with enough space to expand and grow. Maintaining stable water parameters and consistent care is essential for long-term health and optimal coloration.

All our corals are sustainably collected or tank grown to ensure our reefs remain protected.
