Elegance Coral (Catalaphyllia sp.)

Elegance Corals are stunning LPS coral species cherished by Australian reef aquarists for their large, fleshy polyps and dramatic, flowing tentacles. Catalaphyllia, commonly known as Elegance Coral, displays vibrant colours ranging from deep greens and reds to browns and oranges, creating a striking centerpiece in any marine aquarium. Known for their moderately hardy nature, these corals are ideal for intermediate aquarists looking to add movement, texture, and bold colour to their reef. With proper care, Elegance Corals can grow into impressive, solitary colonies that captivate attention in both small and large tanks.

Fish Tank Compatibility

Elegance Corals are semi-aggressive and can extend long sweeper tentacles capable of stinging nearby corals. Maintain adequate space around them and avoid placing near delicate or slow-growing LPS or SPS corals. They are compatible with most reef-safe fish and invertebrates but should be kept away from coral-nipping species such as some butterflyfish or angelfish.

Lighting Needs

These corals thrive under low to moderate LED or T5 lighting. Adequate lighting promotes polyp extension, vibrant coloration, and overall health. Acclimate new specimens gradually to prevent stress or bleaching.

Water Flow Requirements

Elegance Corals prefer low to moderate, indirect water flow that allows their tentacles to sway naturally without damage. Gentle circulation ensures nutrient delivery, waste removal, and optimal polyp expansion.

Tank Size & Placement

Elegance Corals are suitable for medium to large marine aquariums. Place them on stable rockwork or substrate with sufficient space to accommodate full tentacle extension. Maintaining stable water parameters and consistent care will help your Catalaphyllia thrive as a striking feature of your reef.

All our corals are sustainably collected or tank grown to ensure our reefs remain protected.
