The Mcculloch's Rainbowfish is generally relatively easy to keep and suited for the beginner to intermediate aquarist. They are an active species and prefer to be kept in shoals of 6 or more in planted yet spacious aquariums. They are generally bronze to brownish on the upper half of the body and brownish to white on the lower half. They have boldly marked fins and bodies. Colour intensifies in breeding males.
Also known as Dwarf Rainbow, this species has a disjointed distribution across Australia and PNG. These rainbows found at Skull Creek (near the tip of Cape York).
Mcculloch's Rainbowfish are peaceful community fish that prefer to swim in groups of 6 or more. It is best to keep multiple females per male. They can also be kept with other smaller peaceful community fish.
